Mexico, a taco filled dreamland.
Recently Jasmine and I had an incredible opportunity to visit Tulum.
We caught up with a friend there, Fer Juaristi. Go check out his incredible work here…
Fer is a crazy talented photographer. And one of the most humble, awesome humans I have met. His love and passion for people, his family and life in general is contagious. I had heard about Fer when he visited New Zealand a few years back, but I missed the chance to meet him in person.
So when I emailed Fer a few years later, I didn’t expect a reply, let alone an offer to met up while we were in Mexico.
So we met up at the airport and went out for Tacos, many many tacos.
Below is a wedding I photographed along side Fer in 35 degree heat, wearing all white in Tulum, Mexico.
Thanks brother for having me along to experience a unique wedding like nothing we have in New Zealand.
The wedding was quite different to anything I have photographed before. For starters everyone was wearing white (including me). The heat was really intense. There was a shaman conducting the ceremony and the location was next to a freshwater cenote. Complete with turtles and iguanas everywhere! Once at the wedding reception, we were welcomed by traditional dancers playing out local legends of hunting, of birds and jaguars. We finished close to midnight and everyone was still dancing! Which continued into the morning. Enjoy.
Again, a huge thanks to Fer for letting me experience something I will never forget.
A final image, taken by Fer as I am blessed by the shaman.
